Spring 09, only the second round of photography tuition and this time I was set loose on any location, studio or otherwise & restricted only to medium-format film. I did however have 5 briefs producing 6 final shots...

The Briefs were as follows,
1: To produce a portrait.
2: To produce a photograph in which something is about to happen, or has happened in which the focus is outside the time of the photograph itself.
3: Displace the meaning of a photograph by altering an element within it or by altering the context in which the shot is taken.
4: Create a transformation in a series of 2 or more photographs by shifting the references to photographic type (in Documentary to Promotion etc).
5: Produce a narrative transformation/reading within a photograph (a single photograph). This brief develops the relationships which allow manipulation within the photographic process, including reference to other media. Briefs 3&4: May be drawn together.
I shall let you guess for yourselves which photo is attributed to which brief.
The only rules were: Black and White film, Medium format cameras only, and cropping was banned.
Ideally we were required to reproduce a motif that allowed for a photographic theme present in each photograph, linking them all.
After much cinematic research and personality exploration, I decided I woould work best with a theme of Obsession/Fetish which I hope comes through clearly.
I have other accompanying photographs for each brief, however the above final selection are the cream.
